RMFI will be bringing our hard hats and McLeods out to complete flood mitigation and to plant native species to revegetate the area. We often find hydrophobic (water repellent) soils following fires in this region. We will scarify (till) the soil to minimize this layer and spread native seed to encourage native plant communities to reestablish in the park. We will also build erosion control structures to minimize soil loss and mitigate those downstream flows that are affecting Shoup Road. This is a great opportunity to get involved in the restoration efforts surrounding the Black Forest Fire.
