Join RMFI at Pancake Rocks for work rerouting 2 sections of the trail that serve as part of the greater Ring the Peak trail. The Pancake Rocks Trail is a technical trail and the hike to and from the worksite is roughly 3 miles one way with over 1'000 feet in elevation gain. The work will take place at around 10'000-11'000 feet.

This is a community stewardship opportunity, where we welcome volunteers of all backgrounds and communities. Due to the strenuous nature of the work at Pancake Rocks, volunteers need to be 16 and older and accompanied by a parent if under 18.

Registration will close Monday, August 28th at 11:59 pm.

Land Acknowledgment

This is a community stewardship day, which we acknowledge takes place on the traditional unceded territory of the Núu-agha-tʉvʉ-pʉ̱ (Ute), and Cheyenne Nations*. We acknowledge the painful history of genocide and forced occupation of their territory, and we honor and respect the many diverse indigenous people connected to this land on which our stewardship days take place.

Activity: This US Forest Service property is a year-round popular multi-use trail that is part of the greater Ring the Peak Trail. The project will focus on rerouting 2 sections on the Pancake Rocks Trail. The construction of the new trail tread follows a specific predetermined path laid out by the USFS, please follow all guidelines provided by RMFI staff on tread width and direction. Project tasks may include decompacting hardened soils, moving materials such as rock, dirt, and timbers, and potentially constructing check dams, drains or other trail features at the direction of RMFI staff. This is strenuous work using tools in the outdoors. at elevations between 10'000-11'000 feet. Be prepared for a rewarding day of trail work! If you have concerns about accessibility on this stewardship day, please reach out to us, or for your reference please use our Trail Terminology Guide to learn more about this activity.
