Guffey Gorge (Paradise Cove) Stewardship Weekend
Join RMFI for a camping stewardship weekend from Saturday, May 20th-Sunday, May 21st!
If you are not available for the full weekend but would like to join us just on Saturday or Sunday we would still LOVE to have you join. Please go ahead and register here and then please contact Calla at calla@rmfi.org to let us know which day you will be joining.
This is a community stewardship opportunity, where we welcome volunteers of all backgrounds and communities. Feel free to come with friends and/or family members! This weekend is for those 16+, minors must be accompanied by an adult.

Volunteer CalendarLand Acknowledgment
This is a community stewardship day, which we acknowledge takes place on the traditional unceded territory of the Núu-agha-tʉvʉ-pʉ̱ (Ute), Cheyenne, and Jicarilla Apache Nations*. We acknowledge the painful history of genocide and forced occupation of their territory, and we honor and respect the many diverse indigenous people connected to this land on which our stewardship days take place.
This is a community stewardship opportunity, where we welcome volunteers of all backgrounds and communities. Feel free to come with friends and/or family members! Minors must be accompanied by an adult, this volunteer opportunity is best suited for older teens. For any children younger than 15/16 years old or if you have questions about your child's participation in a volunteer day please contact Calla at calla@rmfi.org.
Online registration will close Monday, May 15th at 11:59 pm. Please register online for this stewardship weekend. We do ask that all volunteers be available for the entire workday, if you need any other accommodations please contact us prior to registering.
Meeting location:
Workday Parking: For the workdays, we will be parking at Guffey Gorge at the trailhead (see map link below). Please do not park on the county road, and the $6 day-use fee will be waived for volunteers.
Guffey Gorge/Paradise Cove Trailhead
Camping: We will be camping within the Booger Red dispersed camping area, staff will leave with you from Guffey Gorge to the camping location at the end of work on Saturday. We have provided a map location for where the turnoff to Booger Red is located.
Weekend Itinerary:
Saturday, May 20th:
Workday Start: 9:00 am - volunteers will meet RMFI staff at Guffey Gorge/Paradise Cove Trailhead and proceed to the worksite approximately .5 miles from the trailhead. Please bring water, lunch, items on the workday packing list provided in the confirmation email, and other appropriate attire if you wish to use the cove after the workday.
Workday end: 3:00 pm - Pack up and head to camp or stay and enjoy the cove at your own leisure. Follow the RMFI staff to Booger Red Dispersed Camping
Dinner: RMFI will be providing dinner on Saturday for volunteers, enjoy a fun dinner with the crews - please inform us within your registration if you have any food allergies or food preferences.
Sunday, May 21st:
Breakfast: RMFI will be providing breakfast on Sunday.
Camp Pack Up and Drive to Worksite: Please pack up your camp and any items you brought with you. Crews and Volunteers will proceed back to the Guffey Gorge Trailhead to begin Sunday's workday.

Workday End: 3:00 pm

This Bureau of Land Management Property is a popular day-use recreation area opportunities to swim, hike, scramble, or just relax and enjoy the views. work at Guffey Gorge will improve access to Guffy Gorge through trail delineation, trail hardening, and grade control. Other tasks could include installing other in-trail structures, moving natural materials, and restore impacted riparian areas to create sustainable access to this little spot of paradise.
